What is Pname?

2 years ago admin

Pname is a package name used by developers to identify the core part of a specific app or program developed. It could be Pname.com.name where “name” stands for the name of the app or program at hand.

For Facebook, each app has its own package name and it has the “P-name” as part of its package name. The Facebook Messenger has Pname.com.facebook.orca, the Facebook app has Pname.com.facebook.katana and the Facebook home app has Pname.com.facebook.home as the package name.

Another example is the Yelp app with the package name com.yelp.Android on Android. Mainly, the package name, Package.name.com.yelp.android is assumed to be the official package name. Pname is like an acronym. Instead of writing Package.name.com.app, developers may choose to shorten it to Pname where the “P” stands for Package and the name means the name of the app.

In a nutshell, just after “name” and the “P” of the package, the name of the app will follow instantly to be able to identify the app or program.
